You may be eligible to pay or liable to receive spousal maintenance. Spousal maintenance is a separate payment to child support. The Federal Circuit and Family Court can order a party to pay spousal maintenance in addition to child support if a party to a marriage or de facto relationship cannot adequately support themselves financially. The other partner is liable to maintain the partner in need, to the extent that he or she is reasonably able to do so.
